Juicing has unfortunately found itself with the reputation of being hard to do, time consuming, messy and expensive – just to name a few! However, this could not be further from the truth. With a little preparation and planning, it can make all the difference.

Here are some tips to help you with juicing to get started. If you are a beginner, or if you have been a juicer in the past but simply gave it away for one reason or another.

We are all guilty of having the best intentions and then getting caught up with the flow of life that we forget to do what we know we should be doing in order to give us better health.

Without further ado here are my tips for juicing beginners.

1. Keep your Juicer where you can see it throughout the day

As crazy as this may sound, having the juicer where you can see it each time you enter the kitchen will serve as a reminder of why you bought it in the first place and what it needs to be used for.

2. Prepare the night before

Mornings can be a chaotic time in even the most organized households. Juicing doesn’t need to take up your entire morning.

You can cut back on the time it takes to make your juice by doing the preparation the night before you go to bed.

Switch off the television 15 minutes earlier and begin preparing the fruits and vegetables you want to juice the following morning.

Wash, peel and chop all produce then place in an airtight container such as the Biokips Food Storage Container.

If space in the fridge is an issue you can also use the  Reusable Silicone Storage bags.

3. Buy Organic produce where possible

There is no doubt that organic produce is better for us. Especially when it comes to juicing produce where you are juicing the entire fruit or vegetable with skin. The least amount of chemical in our diet the better.

However, there are many circumstances where organic is not always possible to buy. This can be cost related or lack of availability.

When this is not an option I highly recommend washing all produce thoroughly with an Organic Fruit and Vegetable wash to remove traces of chemicals and dirt that might be present on your fruits.

4. Stock produce for juicing

It’s not always possible to go to the shop every time we wish to juice. This is why stocking produce for juicing is a great idea.

Having what we need on hand for when you want to make a juice gives us no excuses to not juice.

Avoid produce such as strawberries that spoil quickly and try to stock up on ingredients that last longer such as oranges and apples.

5.  Drink juice slowly

Take your time to enjoy your juice. Take a mouthful and hold it in your mouth. Devour the flavors. This helps with the absorption of the vitamins and minerals to reach your bloodstream quicker.

6. Clean your juicer immediately after use

It goes without saying that trying to clean a juicer that has been left sitting for hours is a proverbial pain in the backside.

It gets dry, sticky and can take so much longer to clean.

Get into the habit of as soon as you finish juicing clean the juicer immediately, this will save you time on extra scrubbing later and your juicer will be clean and ready for the next use.
