Juniper Tree

| |

Bonsai is the ancient Japanese art form of growing ornamental miniature or artificially dwarfed trees in containers using cultivation techniques to mimic the shape and scale of full-sized trees.

Juniper bonsai trees are an ideal specimen of a bonsai. Loved for being low-maintenance and easy to form, juniper bonsai is a magnificent starter tree with attractive foliage.

The Juniper bonsai is native to Europe, Asia, and North America, with the tree featuring a naturally compact growth habit which makes them well-suited to bonsai growing techniques. All that fancy plant talk means that it will grow well in a very small pot.

Juniper have evergreen, needle-like foliage that ranges from dark green to steely blue, giving it an attractive, unique look. Expect a healthy juniper tree to grow at a steady pace of about 6″ to 1 foot per year.  Some juniper species are low-lying ground cover shrubs, so they also make fantastic cascading bonsai due to their natural downward growth habit.
